Dr. Ahmed is a Board Certified Rheumatologist practicing in the Northern Virginia area Since 2004. She specializes in various autoimmune diseases, musculoskeletal disorders and Osteoporosis. She completed her Rheumatology Fellowship training from The Georgetown University, Washington Hospital Center Program in 2004. During her fellowship years she was involved in research study involving Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and Transverse Myelitis. She has been the sub investigator for mutiple clinical research studies for Rheumatoid Arthritis ,Systemic Lupus Erythematosus , Gout, Psoriatic Arthritis during her practice years.

She is also Clinical Assistant Professor of Georgetown University Hospital and involved in didactic teaching , lectures for Medical Residents.

Dr. Ahmed received multiple academic honors during her medical training years. She is a Fellow of the American College of Rheumatolgy, and member of Virginia Society of Rheumatology, DC Rheumatism Society. She has consistently been nominated as a Top Doctor by her peers for the Washingtonian Magazine Top Doctors List , Northern Virginia Magazine Top Doctors list etc for many years.

She has privileges at Virginia Hospital Center, Arlington.

She likes spending her free time with her family and her Golden Retriever. Her Hobbies include traveling, interior design, photography, reading.

Dr. Ahmed can also speak multiple languages and is able to communicate fluently in Hindi , Urdu and Bangla with her patients if required.

Infusion Coordinator/Nurse

Charlene has been a Rheumatology Nurse since 1989 administering intravenous infusions and injectables for Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriatic Arthritis, Gout,Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), and Osteoporosis. She has served as Clinical Research Coordinator for multiple Phase II and III clinical trials with an emphasis in SLE and is proud to have been a part of some of the newest and most effective treaments for Rheumatoid Arthritis and SLE.

Prior to her Rheumatology experience, Charlene was charge nurse for a surgical ward in North Dakota and Nebraska, Coordinator of the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program and assisted in the Cardiac Catherization Lab in Newport News, VA at Riverside Medical Center, and served honorably in the United States Army Nurse Corps in California.

Charlene enjoys reading and hosting a monthly book club, traveling, gardening and spending time with family.

Kathy Coomer R.N. has been an Infusion Nurse for the past 19 years with extensive experience in infusing Biologics for various Rheumatologic and Autoimmune diseases. She also has longterm experience in providing direct bedside nursing in hospital settings along with patient care at US Embassy Health Unit, Hospice Care etc for over 20 years .

She is adept in providing comprehensive patient education on various biologic medications. She has been the pharmacist designee for multiple clinical trials for Biologics.

Her patients very much appreciate her skilled hand in establishing I/V lines with ease and her kind, friendly and confident manner which puts them at ease during their infusion therapy. She appreciates her ability to form a long term relationship with her patients as she sees them greatly improve their quality of life with regular infusion therapy.

Divya has been working with providers as a medical assistant for 6 years. She has a very amicable personality with ability to efficiently assist the provider and the patient to ensure good care. She has a Bachelors Degree in Homeopathy and a Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration.
